Senior Photos for the Class of 2014

Picture
Looking for a totally unique Senior Photo experience?  Don't want your Senior Photos to look like everyone else's?  Don't want to go to the same tired, overpriced, flashy studio that everyone else uses?  Then give Rick Nelson Photography a try!
Rick runs a small, unique studio on a beautiful 10-acre property in Papillion, just a mile and a half south of Shadow Lake Mall.  Rick specializes in Senior Photos, with 30-40 select senior shoots per year.  Your photos are guaranteed to be totally unique, and are certain to stand out in the crowd of over-Photoshopped, boring ones so many seniors will receive from the large, "assembly line" studios.

And unlike many of the big studios, Rick doesn't rely on "gimmicks" or bogus mailings saying "You've been nominated/selected to serve as a Model for your school!"  All of Rick's business comes from word of mouth from the hundreds of satisfied Senior Photo customers Rick has worked with over the past 9 years.  Rick is passionate about providing an honest, unparalleled overall photo experience, from the initial contact, day of the shoot, proof selection, final print selection,  to the final prints you will receive.

For 2014 Seniors, Rick will be offering a single, all-inclusive package designed to be the perfect balance of flexibility, quality, and value.  The cost for this package for 2014 will be $600, with repeat customers receiving a $50 discount ($550 for repeat customers). For 2014 Seniors Rick will again be offering his popular "all-inclusive" Senior Portrait Setting Package.
What will you receive in this package?
     1.  A comprehensive senior photo shoot including both indoor studio and outdoor natural scenic backdrops.  During the course of the shoot, you'll be photographed in 10-15 separate outdoor locations on Rick's 10-acre property, making maximum use of natural light and tailored to your own personality.  From an historic barn backdrop (barn is over 100 years old) to a modern wrought iron fence, your shoot will truly customized.  Note that Rick doesn't have a set limit on how long the shoot can last -- shoots average from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the senior.   There is also no set limit on how many outfits you can change into during the shoot.  Total images captured during this session generally ranges from 400-600.
     2.  A complimentary keepsake Proof Book containing between 75-100 of the best shots.
     3.  A CD containing the original JPEG images for all photos taken (along with full Copyright Release of the photos).  This is something no other large Senior Photo studio offers, but everyone wants!
     4.  Your best photos on Facebook.  The absolute best 20-30 images from your shoot will be posted to Rick's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/RickNelsonPhotography) following your shoot, so you can share your photos easily with family and friends.
     5.  A totally customized selection of final prints (using Rick's unique point system).  You can select up to 12 final images for your prints, and can totally customize your order using 400 total points (using the point values shown below).
     6.   A custom-made, framed 11x14 photo collage containing 12 of your favorite photos from the shoot.
     7.  Absolutely no sitting fees, retouching fees, or hidden fees of any sort.  This truly is an "Everything's Included" package, and Rick guarantees there will be no "surprise charges" awaiting you when you pick up your final prints, unlike what many people experience with the big assembly-line studios.

Nelson Photography Senior Photo Process:

 1.  Your Senior Portrait setting will most likely take place on a weekday evening sometime during the months of  June - October of your Senior year.  The start time for the shoot will be dictated by the specific shoot date, in order to perfectly capture the evening light for the outdoor portion of the session.  Shoots generally start between 6:30 and 7:30 pm and last 1 and 2 hours.  Rick will not rush you through the shoot--he only schedules 2-3 senior shoots each week, and will take all the time necessary to ensure he captures each Senior thoroughly.

2.  The first portion of the session will be a short "get-to-know-one-another" discussion.  This will allow Rick to fully understand the unique preferences the senior might have (special props, specific ideas for poses, different outfits the Senior will be using, etc.) and will allow the Senior to ask any questions he/she might have regarding the process.   The goals for this discussion is to ensure the Senior is relaxed and ready for the shoot and that Rick knows exactly what sort of photos the Senior would like to see in the final proof
book.

3.  Following the initial discussion, the outdoor shoot will begin.  Rick's outdoor studio includes 10 acres of landscaped property with nearly limitless options for lighting, background, etc.  From years of experience using this landscaping as a background, Rick will lead the Senior through roughly 10-15 different locations during the outdoor portion.  Seniors and parents are always invited to suggest other spots as backdrops as they see fit.  The outdoor portion of the shoot will take roughly 30-45 minutes, depending on number of outfits used, etc.

4.  Following the outdoor shoot, we'll move indoors to Rick's formal portrait studio.  During this portion of the shoot, Rick will photograph the Senior using several different studio backgrounds and lighting combinations (and will gladly accept ideas from the Senior and parents).   This portion of the process generally will last 30-45 minutes, depending on number of outfits, etc.

5.  In total, the shoot should last roughly 1 - 2 hours.  During this time, Rick will have taken 400-600 photos.  By taking this many photos, Rick can virtually guarantee a wide selection of great proofs to select final prints from.  At this time, Rick will ask for an initial deposit of $200.

6.  Within 10 days of the shoot date, Rick will provide your keepsake Proof Book containing the best photos from each of the various settings/backgrounds used.  This book will normally contain between 75 and 100 separate 4x6 photos.  Rick will also provide you with a CD containing the raw image files for all photos taken (400-600 images normally).  At the time you pick up your proof book/CD, you'll need to make a second deposit of $200.  During this meeting, Rick will provide you with an order form and will review the specific ordering options to you and answer any questions you might have about how to order.

 7. You'll have as long as you need to select your final print order using the Proof Book and/or CD.  Your final print order can contain up to 12 separate images in any size combination you'd like.  Note that Rick will handle any photo touch ups you'd like (blemish removal, etc.).  Feel free to provide additional information if you'd like a photo cropped, changed to Black and White, changed to a mix of Black and White and color, etc.  Note that there is no extra charge for any of these services--Rick's goal is to ensure your total satisfaction with the final prints, and he'll do whatever touchups are necessary to ensure you're happy with the final product.

8.  Once you've provided Rick with your selections for final prints, Rick will finalize the prints you've ordered (intense PhotoShop work to ensure each of the 12 final images are perfect prior to printing) and will order the actual prints from a professional photo lab.

9.  Your prints will be ready for you to pick up within 14 days of receiving your order.  At that time, you'll need to pay the final installment of $200.  Of course, all of the prints are 100% guaranteed--if you're not happy with any aspect of any of the prints, please let Rick know and he'll make corrections immediately.

10.  Rick will also handle providing your Senior Yearbook photo directly to your school (using whichever photo you select).  Please make sure you schedule your shoot early enough to meet your own school's yearbook deadline.

Final Tips for Seniors Preparing for their photo shoot:

1.  Come to the shoot relaxed, well-rested, and ready to have fun.

2.  Bring along any special "props" that will help capture your personality and interests (sports jersey, etc.).  Ask Rick for ideas for special ways to pose with your props/jerseys--he can do some cool stuff mixing Color and Black and White together.

3.  Bring along a variety of outfits that you love and feel comfortable in.  You can change your clothes as many times as you like during the shoot, so don't be shy about bringing your favorites.

4.  Feel free to bring along a beloved family pet, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc, if you'd like to include them in your photos.

5.  Don't be shy about asking questions or making suggestions during the shoot.  Rick will make a bunch of recommendations on poses, but only you will know which ideas feel natural and comfortable.  Some of Rick's best ideas have come from suggestions made by Seniors and parents.
